Making Baby Food

So Naomi turned 6 months recently which means time for solid food. I knew that I wanted to make my own food and wanted to start with purees. I know that there are varying opinions about how to start solids and the best way to go. We decided to do purees, but I understand why others choose different paths. Since I knew where I wanted to start, my supermom said she could help. First we went to Trader Joe's to get all the vegetables and fruits. While there we got distracted by all of the pumpkin goodies... The first thing we did was to cook all of the food either by steaming it, boiling it, or cooking it in the oven.  Once the food was cooked we blended it and placed the food into separate bowls. One for sweet potatoes, one for butternut squash, one for carrots, etc. Then came the fun part! We (mostly supermom) started blending different fruits and veggies together. We tried the combinations as we went and they were all quite tas...

Baby Recommendation-Mirror

Jeff and I have been struggling with a baby problem- that being the car mirrors. Before Naomi was born I went to a baby consignment sale and got this mirror for Jeff's car: The one and only reason I ended up buying this is because it was a whopping $3. It was the cheapest in the bin! Well, let me tell you this is the BEST baby mirror!!  After I got the Munchkin mirror we registered for Eddie Bower mirrors because they looked durable and like they would be good quality. We figured that we could replace the 'consignment mirror' with a new and better one if someone got it for us off our registry. This is the mirror we got: Looks nice, right? Yeah...that about all. It looks nice. Now, because we had never had kids before or even thought about the logistics of having Naomi in the back this looked like a good mirror. Here are the cons of this mirror. 1- It is extremely difficult to adjust the mirror to the perfect angle so that the driver can actually see imp...

State Fair

We took our annual State Fair trip. We went on a Friday that I was tracked-out and Jeff took the day off. I was super excited to go because it was Naomi's first time at the fair!  From the moment we walked onto the fairgrounds Naomi couldn't stop staring at all of the people! I had to get a picture of her with the HUGE pumpkin. Of course she was more enthralled with the eggplant... Then we went to look at the animals. She had a better view from on top of Jeff's shoulders: My favorite picture of the day: We went into the bunny building because we obviously love bunnies. They had a Lionhead bunny out that we could pet. As soon as I put Naomi down she started to reach for the bunny. The bunny let Naomi pet her for quite a long time! Naomi laughed, smiled, and giggled the whole time. We could have stayed in there for hours and she'd be entertained! I wish we could have gotten it on video!  Next we stopped for the delicious corn and ...

6 months old

Naomi is 6 months old! Half a year old already! It's so crazy how fast time flies!! Here are some updates on Naomi: * She is in the 10% percentile for weight and 16% for length. Aunt Katie's nickname "Peanut" is quite fitting! *She has started solid foods...those of you who know me know that I really didn't want this to start; for many reasons really. Reason 1- I can't believe she's already grown up enough to eat solid food. Reason 2- I use cloth diapers and I'm really not a fan of 'real' poo! Here are some pictures of her first 'meal'- peas. As you can tell, she really enjoyed it. She still isn't eating much, but that's ok! :) *Naomi now turns around when you call her name! So cool! *She went on her first swing set while I was tracked out. She had a ball! You can tell by the video that she is just taking everything in! *Another first- Naomi took her first bath in the big girl tub! ...

Pumpkin Time!!!!!!

A local farm in the area has an annual teacher appreciation day. On this day I can take 2 people with me for free. We get to take a hayride to a pumpkin patch and we get to each take a pumpkin home. This year Jeff and I got to take Naomi with us! Now...those of you who know me well know that one of my favorite things on this planet is pumpkins! Here are some pictures from the hay ride: Pumpkin patch time: I think Naomi might like pumpkins just as much as I do!
