Bye Bye Trees

We got rid of some trees today. The one tree in the back is completely dead. Like bark falling off, branches falling down, dead! We had to get rid of it before it fell and broke something:
We figured since we had to get one tree down, we might as well get rid of another one. The one in the front was just in the way, it blocked our back yard majorly! In the fall we would like to extend the actual grass area, so this tree is kind of in the way:

First they cut the branches off the alive tree:

Then they slowly cut down the trunk of the tree:

Then they moved on to the dead tree. They actually tied a rope to the top of the tree and pulled it down. That's how dead it was, all it took was some pulling. Now granted they cut a sliver so that it would break a little more easily. But still, pulling a tree down! Crazy!

Next, the clean up!

The finished product:

 Trunks waiting for pick-up:

I have to say this is a HUGE difference:

Looks so much bigger and brighter now!

Bunny

About a year ago I got a bunny as my classroom pet. I have wanted a Netherland Dwarf bunny for quite some time because of their cute ears and they stay small. Small bunny = perfect for classoom life. So after the beloved Max (my old guinea pig) left us, I knew now was the time to get a bunny! Thank goodness my sister Anna looks on Craigs List all the time for animals because she actually found a Netherland Dwarf Bunny that was up for adoption! YAY! I got her a couple of days after I found the post and was so excited. The kids decided to name her Maddi after a character in the book Fever 1793 . If you like historical fiction books,  you should check it out because it's really good! Little did I know that bunnies are full of personality! On her first day home she bit me 3 times and got me 2 times with her nails. Good thing is now she likes me (most of the time) and is much more friendly! She lets the kids in the class pet her and feed her. She also hops around the classroom....

21 Weeks Update

I've been really bad about keeping up with these pregnancy pictures...life just gets so crazy sometimes! We had some exciting things happen this week as you can see in the picture. 1- It's a girl! I was completely convinced that we were having a boy. I had boy dreams, no morning sickness, and Jeff comes from a family of 2 brothers and 2 nephews. Needless to say, I was completely shocked! Don't get me wrong, I  am very excited to have a baby girl, just very shocked! 2- I'm halfway through my pregnancy. This is crazy! Time has really been flying! I have a friend at work who is also pregnant and is one day behind me. She brought me a bagel one morning to celebrate our 1/2 way point. This was so needed because I completely forgot to eat breakfast that morning! Thanks Melissa! 3- I play french horn for my church orchestra. My belly is now starting to get in the way of my bell, pushing it out of the way! Our little girl likes to dance a lot when I play. It is...

Katie

The last three weeks have been a bit of a whilrwind for my family. We found out that my sister, Katie, had stage 3 ovarian cancer. She went into the ER because she was having pains in her abdomen, and they found a football sized tumor. My sister is such a strong woman and was walking around the day after her surgery that removed the tumor! Katie decided to have some fun with her hair before her chemo treatments start. It's a good thing that we have a sister that is a hairdresser, she can do so many fun things to hair. This is what Katie looked like to start: Here is Lauren applying bleach to Katie's hair: Here is Katie as a blonde....I never thought I'd see one of my sisters EVER with blonde hair. I like the analogy she used...she said she looked like Orlando Bloom in Lord of the Rings. :) All the fun colors for Katie's hair: The final product: Please pray for Katie as she starts her first chemo treatment today! Love you sister w...
