Athena Walk

My family and I walked in the Athena's Race that took place in Winston Salem. This race raised money to further early detection for ovarian cancer. Because of recent events in our family this cause has become very near and dear to our hearts. Our team name was Katie's Tumornators.   The team motto was "Walk in like Goliath, Fight like David". I though this quote was quite perfect for Katie right now!   There were a couple of runners on our team, but most of us did the walking part.   There was a ceremony halfway through the walk for cancer survivors.

Week with Katie

Because of school track out I was able to go and spend a week with my sister in Clemmons. The first fun activity of the week was visiting the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston Salem. We were able to go with Wil's parents and niece too! Wil and I enjoyed some fair corn. Wil got a Krispy Kreme Burger. He actually attracted quite a crowd with this burger.   I love this picture because Hailey is showing exactly what I was thinking. While Wil was eating the burger, she covered her eyes. Too funny! Katie got some funnel cake...and shared some with me :) We found some Pumpkin funnel cake and a pumpkin caramel apple. I was in pumpkin world! I didn't get any pumpkin funnel cake here, I decided I'd get some at the State fair in a couple of weeks.   Katie with her two giant bags of cotton candy. I really enjoyed my first trip to the Dixie Classic fair!     After the fair Katie and I had a craft day. Here are some of the fun pic...

Ashley's Birthday

Jeff and I have some great friends, Neil and Ashley,  that live in High Point. They invited is to join them for Ashley's birthday festivities. We first went to Firebirds in Winston. Yummy food!   Cassy got to join us too for dinner! After dinner we went midnight bowling. Unfortunately my camera died so I don't have any bowling pictures. We had a lot of fun celebrating Ashley's birthday with some great friends! :)

Skylar Bridal Shower

Jeff and I have two friends that are getting married soon-David and Skylar. I was invited to Skylar's wedding shower and had a blast! We started with some delicious food-job well done Chandler! Then we had the most intense game of making bridal gowns out of toilet paper! We were making dresses for about 40 minutes, but it was so fun! As you can see, these are no ordinary dresses. They are quite fancy.   Here you have an umpire waist being made:   Some capped sleeves: A train:   A mermaid style bottom:   Here are some of the finished 'brides'. As you can tell, quite intricate toilet paper dresses!   This was my team of bridal gown makers. We had a train, braided sleeves, a braided headband, and a 2 layered skirt.   Skylar's dress won the contest. As you can see she had a mermaid dress, twisted sleeves, a bustle, and her hair was done! Good job ladies!     The shower ended with Skylar opening som...

Greek Festival

I was sitting at home the other weekend with Jeff when I got a phone call from my mom. She said that she saw on the news that there was a Greek festival in downtown Raleigh. Now if you know my mom and me...you know we LOVE Greek food! We probably gained about 10 pounds when we were in Greece because we just couldn't stop eating! So she called me back not too much later and told me to meet her there in a couple of hours. As soon as we got there we saw all of this delicious food:     My mom and I were in Greek food heaven! We got a couple of things to share for lunch. I love feta and moussaka!!     So after the lunch food we HAD to get some dessert!       My dad and I each had a special Greek dessert that included a lot of honey.   Jeff and my mom had some Greek fried donuts.   I had so much fun with my parents and Jeff at the Greek festival. Luckily this only comes around once a year....otherwis...
