Hester Happenings

We got to spend Thanksgiving with both families this year. We started at Katie and Wil's house. As you can see, we had quite a delicious spread of food!     We let our tummies rest before digging into dessert. We had a great assortment of yummy desserts.     We then headed over to Jeff's parent's house. We had a great spread of food there as well. Unfortunately I have no pictures because Mom Hester was feeling under the weather. Needless to say, we both were about to explode that night!   All in all we had a fantastic Thanksgiving day spending time with our families. We are so blessed!

Jeff and I had a fun Halloween weekend! We were invited to a party at a friend's house and had a blast. The only problem was that we needed costumes. So we decided together to be Mr. and Mrs. Pacman. Here was the final product:       Here's how the whole process started. I got some really big cardboard boxes and duct-taped them together.  I then drew a circle and cut it out with a box knife...needless to say that my hands were really hurting after this part.      Then I duct-taped some boxes around the sides and mouth. I left room for the our legs on the bottom and our heads at the top.     Next I cut out arm holes. To do this Jeff and I had to try them on to see where a good place for the holes would be. I cannot believe that it's been a whole year since Jeff and I got married! We've had a wonderful first year of marriage and have been so blessed by God. We did many fun things to celebrate this momentous occasion! First we went to the NC State and Florida State Football game. We have some terrific friends who have season passes and couldn't make it to this game, so they gave them to us! It worked out perfectly as an anniversary date! We enjoyed lemonade, pretzels, and some other game food. This was also a great game to watch!! There was so much yelling and shouting after NC State won!           This same weekend we were able to go to Flemming's Steak House for our anniversary dinner. Thanks to my wonderful in laws we got a gift certificate here because that is where we had our rehearsal dinner. SO YUMMY! My family and I walked in the Athena's Race that took place in Winston Salem. This race raised money to further early detection for ovarian cancer. Because of recent events in our family this cause has become very near and dear to our hearts. Our team name was Katie's Tumornators.   The team motto was "Walk in like Goliath, Fight like David". I though this quote was quite perfect for Katie right now!   There were a couple of runners on our team, but most of us did the walking part.   There was a ceremony halfway through the walk for cancer survivors.        

  Because of school track out I was able to go and spend a week with my sister in Clemmons. The first fun activity of the week was visiting the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston Salem. We were able to go with Wil's parents and niece too! Wil and I enjoyed some fair corn. Wil got a Krispy Kreme Burger. He actually attracted quite a crowd with this burger.   I love this picture because Hailey is showing exactly what I was thinking. While Wil was eating the burger, she covered her eyes. Too funny! Katie got some funnel cake...and shared some with me :) We found some Pumpkin funnel cake and a pumpkin caramel apple. I was in pumpkin world! I didn't get any pumpkin funnel cake here, I decided I'd get some at the State fair in a couple of weeks.   Katie with her two giant bags of cotton candy.
